Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer

Dyson introduce an exciting new hair tool for the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer Professional, equipping professional stylists with a solution to smooth stray strands without extreme heat. Dyson Professional’s new Flyaway Attachment harnesses the Coanda effect to smooth flyaways in a single pass for a shiny, sleek healthy finish, without exposing hair to extreme heat damage. The Flyaway Attachment is a new addition to the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer Professional attachment portfolio, all of which are designed to style different types of hair.

With hair health at the forefront of everything Dyson create, the Coanda effect is a phenomenon first engineered for styling within the Dyson Airwrap™ styler, attracting and lifting longer hairs to the front, whilst pushing flyaways through the tresses and out of sight. This ‘hiding’ of flyaways increases strand alignment and enhances natural shine.

Clients are often considered a walking endorsement for their stylists, therefore it is key that a client knows how to maintain their style between appointments. Clients look to their stylist as a consultant, for advice and guidance on hair maintenance. In mechanising a stylist’s skill, the Flyaway Attachment allows stylists to provide their clients with a solution to better showcase their work, not only straight from the salon, but beyond.

Preserving a client’s hair health is also important to ensure a stylist is working with the best possible canvas. Dyson engineers recognised that by rethinking the Coanda effect, flyaways can be tamed with airflow alone, saving stylers from sacrificing hair health in pursuit of a smooth finish. In demonstrating the new tool, stylists can also bring a new talking point to client consultancy and a touch of magic when showing the attachment in action.

Emma Sheldon, Dyson Hair Care Category Director, says: “Our engineers are driven to rethink convention, and our obsession with airflow led us to push the potential of Coanda after observing how stylists use a ‘brush and blow dryer’ technique to smooth flyaways. Traditionally, this technique involves the stylist using a round brush to section and manage the hair, whilst directing airflow from the dryer to push the flyaways into the style and out of sight. We set out to find a way to innovate a way to mechanise this method.”

This method? The Dyson Professional Flyaway Attachment. For healthy-looking, beautifully shiny, sleek, flyaway-free locks, look no further.
