What have you been up to this year?

Well, it’s been a big year work-wise with lots of travel. I just got back from shooting a campaign in Bali. A few runway shows this year, as well as few that I directed, but also some in Paris that I got to work on which was amazing. I’ve been shooting some of my own work too which has been different but I’m loving it.

Tell us what your role at Davroe entails?

My roll at Davroe entails many things; from working with Davroe Director, Mary  Centofanti and the team on new products in development and product education; leading hair at Davroe’s runway shows; on-set and in-salon education; and creating beautiful campaigns with the brand.

You were in Adelaide recently shooting the next Davroe campaign with fellow Davroe Ambassador Jordan Robertson. How was it and can you give us a sneak peek into what we can expect from this new campaign?

It was amazing! It was really lovely being together with the Davroe family on their home soil and I really enjoyed sharing the hair with Jordan. He’s a fantastic hairdresser and I loved watching him work. We created some beautiful looks and beautiful hair in some stunning locations. I think we definitely pushed these campaigns a little further than before, which is always a plus. I can’t wait for you all to see the images.

What are your top 5 Davroe products that are always in your kit and why?

Murray River Salt Spray, Construct, Curl Crème Definer and Complete Hair Spray because they are all so flexible and I can create so many looks with just these by my side. I love them! Also, Rebuilder – it’s amazing the way it works and strengthens hair. Every blonde should have it. It’s Davroe’s unsung hero!

What do you love most about Davroe?

The family behind the brand: John and Mary Centofanti and the whole team. Even more so than the amazing products and ethos of the brand.

How has Davroe supported you over the years?

Davroe has been super-supportive, letting me explore new looks and working with my aesthetic. The brand has always been there for me and ready to help out in any way. The best is Australian Fashion Week, when the team all gets together to execute the looks that we have created. It’s not easy but I can always count on Mary, the team and the products to pull it all together.

What is your favourite category of hair to do and specific style?

A solid staple in my repertoire of hair styles is a slick bun. I think it’s a great look; it’s versatile from red carpet to campaign, or e-commerce to event. My key Davroe products that I use for this are Construct and Ultimatum.

What’s the most exciting session styling job you’ve ever worked on?

Couture at Paris Fashion Week - the energy is electric. There are hundreds of people functioning together to get the clothes, models, lights and music working for the runway. It’s a mad rush but I love it!

Walk us through a fashion campaign day?

They start at an ungodly hour, depending if it’s on location or not - sometimes 4am to catch first light. The brand will usually send a deck of images with hair, makeup and lighting references to the crew. From this, I’ll have an idea of the aesthetic, which makes it easier so I can come prepared. On the day we’ll have a chat with the brand stylist, photographer and makeup artist and work out exactly what we’re thinking about doing with the models, and then it’s go time. Depending on how many models and the look, I’m usually allocated 1.5hrs to do hair (while makeup is done simultaneously). All the looks, including hair, will be signed off and then we’ll shoot all day. While I only need to do touch-ups once during the day, I watch the hair on the screen to ensure it’s looking the way I want. Then we might have a little dance to finish the day!

What can we expect to see from you and Davroe?

We’ve been working on some great educational tools to help our Davroe stylists around the world and are excited to see these launch over the next 3-6 months. Filming these videos was fun and educational, even for myself. Having the whole team involved was great and I think you’ll see what we achieved in those few days in Adelaide is just amazing!
